A directional utility tool designed to unlock the full spectrum of freeride terrain.

The offspring of a one-night stand between two of Burton’s most revered all-terrain boards, the Burton Skeleton Key has quickly become a staple in the quivers of our testers and team riders. From Japan-deep pow to Mount Baker’s legendary banks, this uniquely hard-charging directional shape fuses camber with a slightly increased waist width that carves like a knife.

3-Year Warranty - Boards

All 2014 and newer Burton snowboards with The Channel® mounting system (such as the one you are looking at here) are backed by a three-year warranty from date of purchase. Our W48 Warranty Program ensures that should you have a problem, we'll have your claim repaired or replaced and on its way back to you within two business days of receiving it.

Tech Details

Directional Camber

Bend:Directional Camber

Entry rocker causes the nose to lift while camber under both feet maintains momentum and stability through deep-driving turns and variable conditions.

Freeride Directional Shape

Shape:Freeride Directional Shape

Twin or directional is the age-old question for creative rippers like Terje. Balanced Freeride Geometry on the Flight Attendant, Flight Attendant Split, Flight Attendant X Split, Speed Date, Stun Gun, Trick Pony, Skeleton Key, Anti-Social, Day Trader, Stick Shift and Storyboard ends the debate with setback camber and a sidecut that is centered on your stance to create a twin freestyle feel when riding flat base. On edge it turns tight and quick with the float and prowess expected from a directional deck.

Taper

Shape:10mm Taper

A tapered shape means the nose is wider than the tail, promoting smooth turn entry and exit, stability at speed, and enhanced deep snow floatation. Look for different amounts of taper throughout the line.

Directional Flex

Flex:Directional Flex

This flex features increased pop in the tail and a more resilient nose that allows riders to easily maintain control through all terrain and conditions.

FSC™ Certified Super Fly II™ 700G Core

Core:FSC™ Certified Super Fly II™ 700G Core

Stronger and lighter woods target specific areas of the core to provide pop, strength, and reduced weight.

Dualzone™ EGD™

Core:Dualzone™ EGD™

Engineered wood grains for more edge-hold, response, and strength.

The wood grain is positioned along the toe and heel edges on two continuous zones, perpendicular to the rest of the wood core, for consistent edge-hold and added strength.

Squeezebox

Core:Squeezebox

Profiled core for easier board control, more energy, and pop.

Our most versatile Squeezebox profile improves pop and performance through the balance of thicker, more powerful core sections with thinner, more flexible sections. Rider energy is transferred outward from beneath the feet, energizing the tip and tail while making the board snappier, more stable, and easier to manipulate.

Triax™ Fiberglass

Fiberglass:Triax™ Fiberglass

1 - Topsheet
2 - Top Glass +/- 45° & 0° Stitched
3 - Core
4 - Bottom Glass 0° & +/- 45° Stitched
5 - Base

Versatile flex and response for everything from mini to mega shred.

Sintered WFO Base

Base:Sintered WFO Base

Infusing a specially formulated wax deep into the pores of this extra-absorbent, high-density sintered material results in an ultra-durable base that stays Wide F!#@ing Open all season in any condition.

The Channel®

Board Mount:The Channel®

Stronger, faster, easier, and more adjustable—The Channel® gives you ultimate control of your stance and your board in a design compatible with all major bindings (not just Burton’s). Better yet, all boards with The Channel are fully covered by a 3-year warranty. This means that if you have any issue with any part of the board, even if The Channel is in mint condition, you are covered. Watch Video

Super Sap®

Design Features:Super Sap® Epoxy

Super Sap® is a resin formulated with bio-based materials that reduces the carbon footprint by 50% over conventional all-petroleum-based epoxies. Less oil consumption means even less of a carbon footprint per board, which is good in our book.

Pro-Tip™

Design Features:Pro-Tip™

A tapered tip and tail thickness reduces swing weight for easier mobility.

Infinite Ride™

Design Features:Infinite Ride™

This Burton-exclusive technology allows us to maximize pop and strength by overbuilding the board, then putting it in a machine that breaks in the board for you. Whether you choose to ride Flat Top, Flying V™, or Camber, rest assured that with Infinite Ride™ your board will maintain its flex, pop, and feel from the first day forward, season after season.
